ascend

Context
Help

I have always wanted to ascend or go up Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. To do this safely, I have to ascend or climb up the mountain in stages so that I do not become sick from being so high above sea level. The best part of ascending or hiking up this tall peak is the amazing view I will see once I get to the top. After I ascend or make my way to the highest part of the mountain, I will return to the bottom—which will hopefully be easier than going up!

Quiz: What are you doing when you are ascending?

  • You are running fast, resting, then running again.
  • You are moving in an upward direction.
  • You are working very hard.
